1. Plan your Business. Many businesses fail today because of lack of planning. This online training takes you from, choosing your business, to writing a business and marketing plan.

2. Start your Business. Ok so you have a plan, you've crunched the numbers and found that it should make money. Now you're ready to start. This training starts with getting your business license, and includes getting a bank account, software, establishing your internet presence and setting up your home office.

STEP ONE: Become a legal business identify

Prepare a written business plan, complete with financial statements.
Decide what type of business you will be operating under.

If you decide to incorporate, obtain the necessary incorporation papers from your state.
Obtain Business License from your state. Contact the appropriate Department to determine additional licensing requirements specific to your business.
Obtain a federal employer identification number from the Internal Revenue Service Office nearest you.
Contact the Internal Revenue Service, Taxpayer Education Service to determine potential tax obligations and filing requirements.
Obtain an unemployment insurance identification number and other certificates and/or licenses required if you have employees.

3. Marketing your Business. This area is very expansive so I've separated it out a bit below. Don't forget the difference in marketing and advertising. Marketing is adjusting your product/service its packing or presentation to best suit your target market. Advertising is getting them to come see your product or service.

4. Manage your business. Once your business is established, you need to keep up with it to make sure it continues to grow. A business, like many things, is always moving, if it's not going forward it's going backwards. Good management will keep it going the way you want it to.

a. Manage your time. I defer to Franklin Covey for this training. I've attended one of their seminars, and now they have much of that information in the books they offer. It is great and really helped me to budget my time so I can do the things I started a home based business to do.
